Shakespeare at Play is dedicated to bringing Shakespeare’s works to students of drama, as they are meant to be experienced: in performance. With Shakespeare at Play’s app, you can watch a full video production of Shakespeare’s plays while simultaneously scrolling along with the script of that play.
TheAppLabb built the “Shakespeare at Play” App exclusively for iPhone and iPad devices. The app lets users stream a full video production of Shakespeare’s plays such as Romeo & Juliet, Macbeth and Hamlet. Along with the play, the app features commentary notes from the University of Toronto’s Noam Lior as well as audio introductions to each scene which highlight basic plot details and points of interest in the scene under discussion. The app also has features such as Character description per scene and Glossary for the entire play. The app allows in-app purchases to get more plays and features.
Each scene from the plays are included in their entirety and are staged for the camera with an emphasis on clear and easy to understand storytelling. This is perfect for students or newcomers encountering Shakespeare’s plays. You can watch the plays online or download them for offline viewing.
